This Privacy Policy explains how the Greater Fort Myers Beach Area Chamber of Commerce (“the Chamber,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use fortmyersbeach.org and any related pages, forms, and services (the “Site”). It applies to visitors planning a trip to Fort Myers Beach, businesses using our Chamber and membership pages, and anyone who contacts us through the Site.

By using the Site, you agree to this Policy and to our Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

We may update this Policy at any time. Changes take effect when posted, and the “Last updated” date above will reflect the revision.

2. Information You Provide to Us

We collect information you choose to submit, including:

  • Contact and inquiry details from forms on the Site, such as your name, email address, phone number, and message content.
  • Membership application and renewal information, including business name, business address, business categories, website, contact persons, and billing details.
  • Event registration, ticket, and program information, including attendee names and payment details submitted to our payment providers.

Please do not submit sensitive personal information through the Site.

6. Member Listings and Public Content

Information submitted for a member listing — including business name, address, phone number, email address, website, hours, description, categories, and images — is published publicly. It may be indexed by search engines and answer engines, appear in third-party services that reference our directory, and be reused in Chamber print or digital publications.

Do not include personal information in a listing that you do not want to be public. The same applies to event submissions, job postings, testimonials, and advertising creative. Members may request updates or removal of published listing content at any time by contacting us.

7. How We Share Information

We share information only as described here:

  • Service providers. Website hosting, membership management, email delivery, payment processing, analytics, security, and event platforms that process information on our behalf under confidentiality obligations.
  • Members, sponsors, and advertisers. Aggregate or anonymized performance reporting. Individual contact details are shared only with your consent, such as when you opt in to a sponsor offer.
  • Business referrals. When you ask us to connect you with a member business, we may pass your inquiry and contact details to that business.
  • Legal and safety. When required by law, subpoena, or legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of the Chamber, our members, or the public.
  • Successors. In connection with a merger, reorganization, or transfer of Chamber operations or assets.

We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

8. Payments

Payments for memberships, events, tickets, advertising, and merchandise are handled by third-party payment processors. Card numbers and financial account details are submitted directly to those processors and are not stored on our servers. Their handling of your payment information is governed by their own privacy policies.

9. Third-Party Links and Embedded Content

The Site links to member businesses, tourism partners, government agencies, and other third parties, and may embed content such as maps, videos, calendars, social feeds, or booking tools. Those third parties may collect information about you when you interact with their content. We do not control their practices and are not responsible for their policies. 10. Email and Text Communications

If you subscribe to our newsletters or mailing lists, you may unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email or by contacting us. We may still send transactional messages related to your membership, registrations, or purchases. If you opt in to text messages, message and data rates may apply and you may opt out by replying STOP.

We retain personal information as long as needed to provide the services described here, maintain membership and financial records, meet legal, tax, and accounting requirements, and resolve disputes. Analytics data is retained according to the retention settings configured in our analytics tools. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the Florida Digital Bill of Rights, the California Consumer Privacy Act, or the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation. We honor applicable rights requests regardless of residency where reasonably practicable.

14. Visitors Outside the United States

The Chamber operates in the United States and the Site is hosted and administered in the United States. If you access the Site from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.

15. Children’s Privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
